Congressional Schedule: September 21-25, 2020

Floor Action:

The Senate is in session this week.

On Tuesday, the House will consider H.R. 8319, a Continuing Resolution (CR) to extend through December 11 federal government spending and several programs, including the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and the Sexual Risk Avoidance Education Program. The measure would avoid a government shutdown on October 1.

On Monday, the House will consider several bills, including S. 227, Savanna’s Act; S. 982, the Not Invisible Act; H.R. 4957, the Native Child Protection Action Act; H.R. 4995, the Maternal Health Quality Improvement Act; H.R. 5309, the CROWN Act; H.R. 5322, the Ensuring Diversity in Community Banking Act; H.R. 6100, the STOP FGM Act; and H.R. 7592, the STIFLE Act.

On Tuesday, the House is scheduled to consider several bills, including H.R. 3798, the Equal Access to Contraception for Veterans Act; H.R. 5664, the Leveraging Information on Foreign Traffickers; H.R. 7105, the DELIVER Act; and H.R. 8247, the Veterans Comprehensive Prevention, Access to Care, and Treatment Act.

Hearings:

International- On Tuesday, the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations will hold a hearing, “Diversity and Diplomacy: Assessing the State Department’s Record in Promoting Diversity and Inclusion.”

Small Business/Entrepreneurship- The House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations will hold a hearing, “Driving Equity: The US Department of Transportation’s Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Program.”

Social Security- On Thursday, the Senate Aging Committee will hold a hearing, “Women and Retirement: Unique Challenges and Opportunities to Pave a Brighter Future.”
