Congress Approves Fourth Continuing Resolution

On December 19, the House approved, by voice vote, H. Con. Res. 72, a continuing resolution to fund government programs and the District of Columbia at FY2007 levels until December 31, 2007. The same day, the Senate passed the resolution by unanimous consent. President Bush is expected to sign the resolution into law. The previous continuing resolution (P.L. 110-137) expired on December 21 (see The Source, 12/14/07). The continuing resolution was necessary to provide the president with enough time to review the FY2008 Consolidated Appropriations Act (H.R. 2764) (see The Source, 12/20/07).
