On January 22, the Senate approved, 91-3, the FY2008 Defense authorization bill (H.R. 4986). The House approved the bill on January 16 (see The Source, 1/18/08). Congress approved a previous version (H.R. 1585) in December (see The Source, 12/14/07), but the president vetoed it on December 28, 2007. President Bush is expected to sign H.R. 4986 into law.
