On January 5, the bipartisan Congressional Caucus for Women’s Issues (Women’s Caucus) announced its newly elected leadership for the 117th Congress. Congresswomen Madeleine Dean (D-PA) and Jenniffer González-Colón (R-PR) will serve as Co-Chairs of the Women’s Caucus, and Congresswomen Lucy McBath (D-GA) and Kat Cammack (R-FL) will serve as the Vice-Chairs.
Congresswomen Brenda L. Lawrence (D-MI) and Debbie Lesko (R-AZ) served as Co-Chairs of the Women’s Caucus during the 116th Congress. Under their leadership, the Women’s Caucus championed efforts to improve women’s health and reduce maternal mortality, expand opportunities for women and girls in STEAM, and address the unique needs of women in the military and women veterans.
Congresswoman Dean currently is serving her second term representing the 4th District of Pennsylvania. In the 116th Congress, she served on the Financial Services and Judiciary Committees. The Congresswoman is focused on improving the lives of women and their families, and providing access to health care for all.
Congresswoman González-Colón was elected to Congress to represent Puerto Rico in 2016. Last Congress, she served on the Natural Resources; Science, Space and Technology; and Transportation and Infrastructure Committees. Congresswoman González-Colón is an advocate for maternal and child health research, and improved services for veterans.
Congresswoman McBath currently is serving her second term representing the 6th District of Georgia. During the 116th Congress, she served on the Judiciary, and Education and Labor Committees. Gun safety legislation and campaign finance reform have been among her top priorities in Congress.
Congresswoman Cammack is serving her first term representing the 3rd District of Florida. Prior to being elected to Congress, she served as a congressional staffer, owned a small business, and co-founded a nonprofit organization.
