Weekly Highlights: June 1-5, 2015

Floor Action:

International- On June 1, the House approved, by voice vote, the Girls Count Act (S. 802), clearing the measure for President Obama’s signature.

Military- This week, the Senate began its consideration of H.R. 1735, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

Appropriations- On June 3, the House passed, 242-183, the FY2016 Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies (CJS) spending bill (H.R. 2578).

On June 4, the House began its consideration of the FY2016 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies spending bill (H.R. 2577).

Mark-Ups:

Appropriations- On June 3, the House Appropriations Subcommittee on State and Foreign Operations approved, by voice vote, the FY2016 State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs spending bill (as-yet-unnumbered).

On June 2, the House Appropriations Committee approved, by voice vote, the FY2016 Defense spending bill (H.R. 2685).

Hearings:

Veterans- On June 3, the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee held a hearing on several bills, including the Women Veterans’ Access to Quality Care Act (S. 471) and Homeless Veterans’ Reintegration Programs Reauthorization Act (S. 425).
