Floor Action: The Senate is in session this week. The House is in recess.
The Senate must pass the remaining Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 spending bills or another extension by January 30 to prevent a partial government shutdown.
Appropriations– This week, the Senate is expected to consider a six-bill “minibus” spending package that includes FY2026 Defense; Homeland Security; Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies; Financial Services and General Government; Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies, and State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs spending bill (as-yet-unnumbered).
Hearings:
Child Protection- On Wednesday, the Senate Indian Affairs will hold a hearing “to examine Title II of the draft of the Native Children’s Commission Implementation Act, focusing on justice and safety for native children.”
