Weekly Legislative Update: February 23, 2026

Congressional Schedule: February 23-27, 2026 

Floor Action: The House and Senate are in session this week.  

It has been ten days since the Department of Homeland Security’s federal funding lapsed, and there is a partial federal government shut down. 

On Tuesday, President Trump will deliver his State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress. 

Mark-Ups:  

Judiciary– On Thursday, the Senate Judiciary Committee will consider a number of bills, including H.R. 6719, the Combating Online Predators Act; S. 3394, the SAFE Act, and S. 3398, the Stop Sextortion Act.  

Hearings:   

Family Support- On Tuesday, the House Education and Workforce Subcommittee on Workforce Protections will hold a hearing on “Balancing Careers and Care: Examining Innovative Approaches to Paid Leave.”
