Senate Committee Clears FY2008 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Spending Bill

On July 12, the Senate Appropriations Committee approved, 29-0, the FY2008 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies spending bill (as-yet-unnumbered). A Senate Appropriations Subcommittee approved the measure on July 10.

According to a committee press release, the measure allocates $104.6 billion in FY2008 funds, $5.3 billion more than FY2007 and $4.4 billion more than the administration’s request.

Department of Housing and Urban Development

Community Development Block Grants (CDBG): CDBGs would be level-funded at $3.77 billion in FY2008, $735 million more than President Bush’s request.

Lead Hazard Reduction: Lead hazard reduction programs would receive $157.14 million in FY2008, $6 million above FY2007 and $41 million more than the administration’s request.
