The House and Senate are in session this week.
Military- This week, the Senate is scheduled to continue its consideration of S. 1605, the compromise version of the FY2022 National Defense Authorization Act. The measure contains provisions to address sexual assault in the military, provide parental leave and health care for trafficking victims, and would require the Department of Defense to report on gender, race, and ethnicity demographics, among other provisions.
Mark-Ups:
Military- On Wednesday, the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee will mark up several bills, including S. 3196, the Improving Protections for Midshipmen Act. The bill would address sexual harassment and sexual assault at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
Veterans- On Wednesday, the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee will consider several bills, including S. 2533, the Making Advances in Mammography and Medical Options (MAMMO) for Veterans Act, and S. 3025, the Servicemembers and Veterans Empowerment and Support Act, which would expand health care and benefits for military sexual trauma.
Women’s History- On Wednesday, the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee will mark up several bills, including H.R. 1444, a bill to designate the “Patsy Cline Post Office.”
