CONGRESSIONAL SCHEDULE: JULY 24-28, 2023 

Floor Action:

Appropriations- On Wednesday, the House is expected to consider H.R. 4366, the FY2024 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies spending bill.

This week, the House also is expected to consider H.R. 4368, the FY2024 Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies spending bill.

Military- The Senate is expected to continue its consideration of S. 2226, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

Mark-Ups: 

Child Protection- On Thursday, the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee will consider a number of bills, including S.1409, to protect the safety of children on the internet, and S.1418, to amend the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 to strengthen protections relating to the online collection, use, and disclosure of personal information of children and teens.

Health- On Wednesday, the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions is expected to mark up the Primary Care and Health Workforce Expansion Act (as-yet-unnumbered). The legislation would address the nutritional needs of pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women, the maternity care provider shortage, and the Women’s Addiction Leadership Institute, among other provisions.

Hearings:

Appropriations- On Thursday, the Senate Appropriations Committee is expected to mark up several bills, including the FY2024 Defense spending bill (as-yet-unnumbered), FY2024 Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies spending bill (as-yet-unnumbered), and FY2024 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies spending bill (as-yet-unnumbered).

Small Business- On Wednesday, the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship will hold a hearing to examine pathways to women’s entrepreneurship, focusing on understanding opportunities and barriers.
