Congressional Schedule: November 1-5, 2021

Floor Action:

The House and Senate are in session this week.

Budget- This week, the House may consider H.R. 5376, the Build Back Better Act, which includes an expanded child tax credit and funding to expand child care access and equity.

Employment- On Wednesday, the House may consider H.R. 3992, the Protect Older Job Applicants Act of 2021.

The House also may consider the Senate amendment to H.R. 3684, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which contains provisions to address women-owned businesses and women in the trucking industry.

Mark-Ups:

Health- On Wednesday, the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Communications and Technology will mark up H.R. 1218, the Data Mapping to Save Moms’ Lives Act.

On Thursday, the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health will consider several bills, including H.R. 5487, the Stillbirth Health Improvement and Education (SHINE) for Autumn Act.

Human Trafficking- On Wednesday, the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee will mark up several bills, including S. 2991, the Countering Human Trafficking Act, and S. 2989, the Blue Campaign Enhancement Act. The Blue Campaign was established to combat human trafficking.

Miscellaneous- On Thursday, the House Oversight Committee will mark up several bills, including H.R. 5271, a bill to designate the Thelma Harper Post Office Building.

Veterans- On Thursday, the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee will consider several bills, including H.R. 2385, the Justice for Women Veterans Act.

Violence Against Women- On Thursday, the Senate Judiciary Committee will mark up S. 2342, the Ending Forced Arbitration of Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment Act of 2021.

Hearings:

Abortion- On Thursday, the House Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing, “The Texas Abortion Ban and its Devastating Impact on Communities and Families.”
