On July 9, the Senate passed, 69-30, the Medicare Improvement for Patients and Providers Act (H.R. 6331). The House passed the measure on June 24 (see The Source, 6/27/08). The president is expected to veto the bill.
H.R. 6331 contains provisions to extend the Transitional Medical Assistance (TMA) program and authorize funds for abstinence-only education programs.
