On December 23, the House and Senate approved, both by unanimous consent, H.R. 3765, a bill that would extend, among other programs, the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program through February 2012. President Obama signed the bill into law the same day. The program’s current authorization (P.L. 112-35) expires on December 31.
The measure is virtually identical to legislation passed by the Senate on December 17 (see The Source, 12/16/11), but includes a provision to ease burdens on payroll processors.
