Committee Holds Hearing on Working Families Flexibility Act

On April 5, the House Education and the Workforce Subcommittee on Workforce Protections held a hearing on H.R. 1180, the Working Families Flexibility Act.

The bill, sponsored by Rep. Martha Roby (R-AL), would allow private-sector employees to choose between receiving paid compensatory time off and overtime pay. Currently, public-sector employees are allowed to earn compensatory time in lieu of overtime pay.

The following witnesses testified:

  • Leonard Court, senior partner, Crowe & Dunlevy, on behalf of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce;
  • Crystal Frey, vice president, Human Resources, Continental Realty Corporation, Baltimore, Maryland, on behalf of the Society for Human Resource Management; and
  • Vicki Shabo, vice president, National Partnership for Women and Families.
