Congress Passes Short-Term Funding Extension

On December 10, the Senate approved, by unanimous consent, H.R. 2250, a continuing resolution (CR) to fund the federal government through December 16. The House approved the measure by voice vote on December 11. President Obama has indicated he will sign the legislation into law. The current CR (P.L. 114-53) expires at midnight on December 11.

The CR is necessary as House and Senate negotiators continue working to complete an omnibus appropriations bill for FY2016, which began on October 1.
