Defense Authorization Heads into Third Week

This week, the Senate continued its work on the FY2016 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) (H.R. 1735). The House passed its version of the bill on May 15 (see The Source, 5/15/15).

The Senate is expected to continue consideration of the legislation next week. It is likely to vote on several amendments, including an amendment by Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) to substitute the provisions of the version of the NDAA passed by the Senate Armed Services Committee (S. 1376) for the text of the House-passed version. The committee approved S. 1376 on May 14 (see The Source, 5/5/15).
