Education for All Clears Senate Committee

On December 6, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee approved, by voice vote, H.R. 4481, the Education for all Act, as amended. The House passed the bill on September 7 (see The Source, 9/9/16).

The bill, sponsored by Rep. Nita Lowey (D-NY), would establish as a matter of U.S. policy working with foreign countries and international organizations in order to achieve “sustainable, quality universal basic education.” The bill would provide priority assistance to countries that work to empower women and girls.
