House Appropriations Subcommittee Approves Transportation, HUD Spending Bill

On July 11, the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and Related Agencies approved, by voice vote, the FY2018 Transportation, HUD, and Related Agencies spending bill (as-yet-unnumbered).

According to the committee summary, the bill would provide $56.5 billion in discretionary funds in FY2018 for the Departments of Transportation and HUD, and other agencies. This amount is $1.1 billion below FY2017 and $8.6 billion over the president’s request. HUD would receive $38.3 billion in discretionary funds, an amount $487 million below FY2017 and $6.9 billion over the president’s request.

The Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS program would receive $356 million in FY2018, equal to FY2017 and $26 million over the administration’s FY2018 request. The Family Self-Sufficiency program would receive $75 million, equal to FY2017 and the president’s request.
