On December 6, the House passed, 407-2, the Military Reservist and Veteran Small Business Reauthorization and Opportunity Act (H.R. 4253). The House Small Business Committee approved similar legislation (H.R. 2366) on May 23 (see The Source, 5/25/07).
Sponsored by Rep. Jason Altmire (D-PA), H.R. 4253 would require the SBA to establish a Women Veterans Business Training Resource Program that would collect information on resources available to women veterans for business training, including vocational and technical education; general business skills, such as marketing and accounting; and business assistance programs targeted to women veterans. The program also would disseminate such information to women veterans through veterans’ business outreach and women’s business centers.
