House Approves Women in Entrepreneurship Act

On January 10, the House passed, by voice vote, H.R. 255, a bill to authorize the National Science Foundation (NSF) to support entrepreneurial programs for women. Sponsored by Rep. Elizabeth Esty (D-CT), the legislation would require NSF programs to focus on recruiting and encouraging women to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields.

During the 114th Congress, the House approved the bill in March 2016 (see The Source, 3/25/16); the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee approved it in September 2016 (see The Source, 9/23/16).
