House Committee Holds Hearing to Prevent Crimes Against Children

On March 16, the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security, and Investigations held a hearing, “Combating Crimes Against Children: Assessing the Legal Landscape.” The hearing discussed the progress that has been made to prevent child abduction and sexual exploitation, and proposed new ways to combat child pornography.

The following witnesses testified:

  • John Shehan, vice president, National Center for Missing and Exploited Children;
  • Francey Hakes, consultant, Child Exploitation Prevention and Interdiction;
  • Patrick Beaver, member, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force; and
  • Nicole Pittman, vice president, Center on Youth Registration Reform.
