House Passes Legislative Branch Spending Bill

On June 9, the House passed H.R. 5325, the FY2017 Legislative Branch spending bill, by a vote of 233-175. The House Appropriations Committee approved the bill by voice vote on May 17 (see The Source, 5/23/16).

According to the committee report, the measure would provide $3.482 billion in FY2017. It would provide baby changing stations in bathrooms in House office buildings and the Capitol, along with increased access to parking for pregnant congressional staffers.

As amended, the bill also would allocate $500,000 to bring House and Capitol buildings into compliance with regulations for lactation stations for breastfeeding mothers.
