Floor Action:

International– On Tuesday, the House is scheduled to consider H.R. 2153, the Keeping Girls in School Act.

Mark-Ups:

Employment– On Tuesday, the House Ways and Means Committee will hold a hearing, “Legislative Proposals for Paid Family and Medical Leave.”

Health– On Tuesday, the Education and Labor Subcommittees on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions and Workforce Protections will hold a joint hearing, “Expecting More: Addressing America’s Maternal and Infant Health Crisis.”

Veterans– On Wednesday, the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee will hold a hearing on several bills, including S. 3182, the Helping Expand and Launch Transitional Health for Women Veterans Act.

Health

S. Res. 479—Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ)/Judiciary (1/21/20)—A resolution designating January 23, 2020, as “Maternal Health Awareness Day.”

Human Trafficking

H.R. 5664—Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX)/Foreign Affairs; Judiciary (1/21/20)—A bill to ensure adequate time for the preparation of the annual Trafficking in Persons Report, require the timely provision of information to the Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons and the Bureau of Diplomatic Security of the Department of State regarding the number and location of visa denials based, in whole or in part, on grounds related to human trafficking, and for other purposes.

Violence Against Women

S. Res. 480—Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN)/Judiciary (1/21/20)—A resolution raising awareness and encouraging the prevention of stalking by designating January 2020 as “National Stalking Awareness Month.”
