On May 25, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee approved H.R. 601, the Reinforcing Education Accountability in Development (READ) Act, as amended. The bill cleared the House on January 24 (see The Source, 1/27/17).
Sponsored by Rep. Nita Lowey (D-NY), the measure would, among other provisions, promote basic education for girls in developing countries.
