Senate Committee Addresses Zika’s Public Health Threat

On February 24, the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee held a hearing, “Zika Virus: Addressing the Growing Public Health Threat.” The hearing focused on the spread of the virus, especially through sexual contact, and the public health efforts underway to prevent the epidemic.

The following witnesses testified:

  • Anne Schuchat, principal deputy director, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention;
  • Anthony Fauci, director, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases; and
  • Robin Robinson, director, Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority.
