On June 24, the Senate Commerce, Science, and Technology Committee passed, by voice vote, a bill (as-yet-unnumbered) to reauthorize programs at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). On June 18, the House passed similar legislation (H.R. 6063), which contains provisions that encourage women to pursue higher education degrees in fields such as science and aeronautics, and require NASA to direct outreach efforts toward women-owned and other small businesses (see The Source, 6/20/08).
