Senate Committee Considers Challenges for Women Entrepreneurs

On October 26, the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship held a hearing, “Strengthening the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem for Women.” Committee members and witnesses considered challenges faced by female entrepreneurs, including access to capital, certification, and support networks.

Witnesses suggested that the committee consider increased funding for Women’s Business Centers, incentives for organizations that invest in female-owned companies, and a sharper awareness of unconscious bias against women by venture capitalists.
