Senate Committee Examines Future of Human Trafficking

On July 12, the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee held a hearing, “Force Multipliers: How Transportation and Supply Chain Stakeholders are Combatting Human Trafficking.” The hearing focused on the role of supply chains and transportation providers in the effort to combat human trafficking, as well as successful strategies used to reduce the number of trafficked humans.

The following witnesses testified:

  • Esther Goetsch, coalition building specialist, Truckers Against Trafficking;
  • Samir Goswami, technical consultant, Technology Solutions to Trafficking in Global Supply Chains, Issara Institute;
  • Tomas Lares, executive director, Florida Abolitionist, member, Greater Orlando Human Trafficking Task Force; and
  • Keeli Sorensen, director of government relations and public policy, Polaris.
