Senate Committee Examines Marines United Website Abuse

On March 14, the Senate Armed Services Committee held a hearing, “Information Surrounding the Marines United Website.” The hearing focused on allegations that female service members had been subjected to online sexual harassment and abuse by active duty and former Marines on a private Facebook page maintained by a group called Marines United.

In order to receive testimony about the ongoing investigations into the allegations, a portion of the hearing was held as a “closed” door session.

The following witnesses testified:

  • Sean J. Stackley, secretary, Navy;
  • General Robert B. Neller, commandant, United States Marine Corps; and
  • Ronald L. Green, sergeant major, United States Marine Corps.
