Senate Condemns Sexual Violence by ISIS

On December 16, the Senate approved, by unanimous consent, S. Res. 310, a resolution condemning the ongoing sexual violence against women and children from Yezidi, Christian, Shabak, Turkmen, and other religious communities committed by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). The Senate Foreign Relations Committee approved the legislation on November 10 (see The Source, 11/13/15).

Among other provisions, the measure calls on the attorney general, the government of Iraq, and other foreign governments to identify, investigate, and prosecute perpetrators of such crimes.
