On July 10, the Senate passed, by unanimous consent, a resolution supporting World Malaria Day (S. Res. 429). The Senate Foreign Relations Committee approved the resolution on June 19 (see The Source, 6/22/12). The measure, sponsored by Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS), cites maternal and child health improvement as primary goals, recognizes the high risk posed by malaria to new mothers, infants, and children, and supports ongoing public-private partnerships that address the disease.
