On April 3, the Senate approved, by unanimous consent, S. Res. 394, a resolution designating April 5 as Gold Star Wives Day.
The resolution, sponsored by Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC), honors the sacrifices of spouses and families of service members who died during active duty or as a result of service-connected disability. Founded in 1945 with the help of Eleanor Roosevelt, Gold Star Wives of America, Inc. assists “families left behind by the fallen members and veterans.”
