Small Business Administration Extension Approved by the Senate

On February 1, the Senate approved, by unanimous consent, a bill (H.R. 434) to extend any program, authority, or provision authorized by the Small Business Administration (SBA) that is scheduled to expire on or after February 2, 2007, until July 31, 2007, under the same terms and conditions as are currently in effect, after adopting a substitute amendment by Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) by unanimous consent. The House passed its version of the bill, which would extend the SBA through December 31, 2007, on January 17 (see The Source, 1/19/07). Because the House and Senate extensions include different dates, final action will be postponed until next week.
