Floor Action:

Health– On October 3, the Senate approved, 98-1, H.R. 6, the Substance Use-Disorder Prevention that Promotes Opioid Recovery and Treatment (SUPPORT) for Patients and Communities Act, sending the bill to the president for his signature.

The House passed an earlier version of H.R. 6 on June 22. The Senate approved an amended version of the legislation on September 17; the House agreed to the amendments on September 28.

The measure contains provisions to address the needs of pregnant and postpartum women and infants with substance use disorder.

Hearings:

Violence Against Women– On October 3, the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Subcommittee on Consumer Protection, Product Safety, Insurance, and Data Security held a hearing, “Protecting U.S. Amateur Athletes: Examining Abuse Prevention Efforts Across the Olympic Movement.”
