On November 19, the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee approved, by voice vote, an omnibus bill, the Veterans Programs Improvements Act (S. 1581). Sponsored by Chair Bernie Sanders (I-VT), the measure incorporates the Survivors of Military Sexual Assault and Domestic Abuse Act, originally designated as S. 1581, along with other bills that would expand veterans’ access to health care and dental services. On October 30, the committee held a hearing on several bills, including the Survivors of Military Sexual Assault and Domestic Abuse Act (see The Source, 11/1/13).
