The House and the Senate are in session this week. 

International- On Wednesday, the House is scheduled to consider H. Con. Res. 7, commending the bravery, courage, and resolve of the women and men of Iran demonstrating in more than 133 cities and risking their safety to speak out against the Iranian regime’s human rights abuses, as amended.

Abortion

H.R. 372 – Rep. Michelle Fischbach (R-MN)/Energy and Commerce (1/17/23) – A bill to prohibit federal funding to entities that do not certify the entities will not perform, or provide any funding to any other entity that performs, an abortion.

H.R. 383 – Rep. Diana Harshbarger (R-TN)/Energy and Commerce (1/17/23) – A bill to nullify the modifications made by the Food and Drug Administration in January 2023 to the risk evaluation and mitigation strategy for the abortion pill mifepristone, and for other purposes. 

H.R. 384 – Rep. Kevin Hern (R-OK)/Energy and Commerce (1/17/23) – A bill to prohibit the use or declaration of a public health emergency with respect to abortion, and for other purposes. 

H.R. 421 – Rep. Bob Good (R-VA)/Judiciary (1/20/23) – A bill to prohibit chemical abortions performed without the presence of a healthcare provider, and for other purposes. 

H.R. 427 – Rep. Bob Latta (R-OH)/Energy and Commerce (1/20/23) – A bill to prohibit the approval of new abortion drugs, to prohibit investigational use exemptions for abortion drugs, and to impose additional regulatory requirements with respect to previously approved abortion drugs, and for other purposes. 

H.R. 431 – Rep. Alex Mooney (R-WV)/Judiciary (1/20/23) – A bill to implement equal protection under the 14th article of amendment to the Constitution for the right to life of each born and preborn human person. 

H.R. 435 – Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX)/Education and the Workforce (1/20/23) – A bill to prohibit the award of federal funds to an institution of higher education that hosts or is affiliated with a student-based service site that provides abortion drugs or abortions to students of the institution or to employees of the institution or site, and for other purposes. 

H. Res. 48 – Rep. Lisa McClain (R-MI)/Judiciary; Energy and Commerce (1/20/23) – A resolution expressing support for the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. 

Human Trafficking 

H.R. 443 – Rep. Tim Walberg (R-MI)/Education and the Workforce (1/20/23) – A bill to direct the Secretary of Labor to train certain employees of the Department of Labor how to effectively detect and assist law enforcement in preventing human trafficking during the course of their official duties, and for other purposes.

International

H.R. 436 – Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX)/Foreign Affairs (1/20/23) – A bill to prohibit United States contributions to the United Nations Population Fund.

Judiciary

H.R. 398 – Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-MO)/Energy and Commerce (1/20/23) – A bill to prohibit the Secretary of Health and Human Services from conducting or supporting any research involving human fetal tissue that is obtained pursuant to an induced abortion, and for other purposes. 

H.R. 416 – Rep. C. Scott Franklin (R-FL)/Energy and Commerce (1/20/23) – A bill to prohibit sale or transactions relating to human fetal tissue.

H.R. 428 – Rep. Bob Latta (R-OH)/Judiciary (1/20/23) – A bill to prohibit the unlawful disposal of fetal remains. 

Reproductive Health 

H.R. 371 – Rep. Michelle Fischbach (R-MN)/Energy and Commerce (1/17/23) – A bill to provide for a moratorium on federal funding to Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Inc. 

H.R. 407 – Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA)/Energy and Commerce; Judiciary; Ways and Means (1/20/23) – A bill to prohibit the use of federal funds to implement executive orders relating to reproductive health services.  

H.R. 445 – Rep. Nikema Williams (D-GA)/Energy and Commerce (1/20/23) – A bill to establish within the Department of Health and Human Services an Ombuds for Reproductive and Sexual Health.  

Violence Against Women

H.R. 437 – Rep. Lloyd Smucker (R-PA)/Energy and Commerce (1/20/23) – A bill to require grant recipients to comply with all applicable state and local laws requiring notification or reporting of child abuse, child molestation, sexual abuse, rape, incest, intimate partner violence, or human trafficking, and for other purposes.
