Floor Action: The House and Senate are in session.
Budget- This week, the Senate is expected to consider a rescissions package (S. 2067) that would rescind previously approved funds for certain government programs, including the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).
Hearings:
Health– On Wednesday, the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health will hold a hearing, “Legislative Proposals to Maintain and Improve the Public Health Workforce, Rural Health, and Over-the-Counter Medicines” about several bills, including the Newborn Screening Saves Lives Reauthorization Act of 2025 (as-yet-numbered), which reauthorizes and revises several programs and activities relating to newborn screening for certain conditions and genetic, endocrine, and metabolic diseases, and H.R. 3302, the Healthy Start Reauthorization Act of 2025, which amends the Public Health Service Act to reauthorize the Healthy Start Initiative.
Women’s History- On Wednesday, the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Federal Lands will hold a hearing on several bills, including H.R. 2290, “World War II Women’s Memorial Location Act,” which calls for a memorial to commemorate the sacrifice and service of the women who worked on the home front to support the efforts of the United States military during World War II may be located on the National Mall, and for other purposes.

Appropriations- On Monday, the Senate Appropriations Committee will mark up the FY2026 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies spending bill (as-yet-unnumbered). The legislation likely include funding for housing programs for domestic violence and sexual assault as well as affordable housing for women with dependents.
On Tuesday, the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies will mark up the FY2026 Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies spending bill (as-yet-unnumbered). The measure will likely included funding for programs to combat violence against women.
Also on Tuesday, the House Appropriations Committee will mark up the FY2026 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies spending bill (as-yet-unnumbered). The measure will likely include funding for the Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum.
