Floor Action:

The Senate is in session this week.

On Tuesday, the House will consider H.R. 8319, a Continuing Resolution (CR) to extend through December 11 federal government spending and several programs, including the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and the Sexual Risk Avoidance Education Program. The measure would avoid a government shutdown on October 1.

On Monday, the House will consider several bills, including S. 227, Savanna’s Act; S. 982, the Not Invisible Act; H.R. 4957, the Native Child Protection Action Act; H.R. 4995, the Maternal Health Quality Improvement Act; H.R. 5309, the CROWN Act; H.R. 5322, the Ensuring Diversity in Community Banking Act; H.R. 6100, the STOP FGM Act; and H.R. 7592, the STIFLE Act.

On Tuesday, the House is scheduled to consider several bills, including H.R. 3798, the Equal Access to Contraception for Veterans Act; H.R. 5664, the Leveraging Information on Foreign Traffickers; H.R. 7105, the DELIVER Act; and H.R. 8247, the Veterans Comprehensive Prevention, Access to Care, and Treatment Act.


International- On Tuesday, the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations will hold a hearing, “Diversity and Diplomacy: Assessing the State Department’s Record in Promoting Diversity and Inclusion.”

Small Business/Entrepreneurship- The House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations will hold a hearing, “Driving Equity: The US Department of Transportation’s Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Program.”

Social Security- On Thursday, the Senate Aging Committee will hold a hearing, “Women and Retirement: Unique Challenges and Opportunities to Pave a Brighter Future.”

Child Protection

H.R. 8236—Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-FL)/Judiciary (9/14/20)—A bill to prohibit the importation or transportation of child sex dolls, and for other purposes.


H.R. 2694—Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY)/Education and Labor (9/17/20)—A bill to prohibit employment practices that discriminate against making reasonable accommodations for job applicants or employees affected by pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions.


H.R. 8248—Rep. Marc Veasey (D-TX)/Armed Services (9/14/20)—A bill to establish a grant program in the Department of Defense to increase the number of women, LGBT individuals, and underrepresented minorities in military and civilian leadership positions of the Department of Defense.

S. 4600—Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI)/Armed Services (9/16/20)—A bill to improve the responses of the Department of Defense to sex-related offenses, and for other purposes.

H.R. 8270—Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA)/Armed Services (9/16/20)—A bill to improve the responses of the Department of Defense to sex-related offenses, and for other purposes.


S. 4567—Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX)/Environment and Public Works (9/14/20)—A bill to designate the Rocksprings Station of the U.S. Border Patrol as the “Donna M. Doss Border Patrol Station.”

S. 4593—Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC)/Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs (9/16/20)—A bill to award posthumously the Congressional Gold Medal to Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley.
