Women in Leadership Positions for the 111th Congress

Several women have been reelected or newly elected to positions of leadership within the 111th Congress. On the House side, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was reelected to a second term as Speaker of the House of Representatives. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) will serve as vice-chair of the Republican Conference.

On the Senate side, Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) will serve as chief deputy whip; Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) will serve as conference secretary. The chair of Steering and Outreach will be held by Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI).

Reps. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) and Mary Fallin (R-OK) will co-chair the Congressional Caucus for Women’s Issues. Reps. Gwen Moore (D-WI) and Kay Granger (R-TX) will serve as vice-chairs.

The Congressional Black Caucus will be chaired by Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA), Del. Donna Christensen (D-VI) will serve as the second vice-chair, and Rep. Yvette Clark (D-NY) will serve as caucus whip.

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus will be chaired by Rep. Nydia Velázquez (D-NY), and Rep. Hilda Solis (D-CA) was elected as the second vice-chair.

Del. Madeleine Z. Bordallo (D-GU) will serve as secretary of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus.
