Weekly Highlights: June 16-20, 2014

Floor Action:

Veterans- On June 18, the House approved its version of the Veterans’ Access to Care through Choice, Accountability, and Transparency Act (H.R. 3230), as amended.

Appropriations- This week, the Senate began consideration of an appropriations package consisting of the FY2015 Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies (S. 2437), FY2015 Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies (S. 2389), and FY2015 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies  (S. 2438) spending bills.

On June 20, the House approved, 340-73, the FY2015 Defense spending bill (H.R. 4870).

Mark Ups:

Appropriations- On June 19, the Senate Appropriations Committee approved, 25-5, the FY2015 State, Foreign Operations, and Related Services appropriations bill (S. 2499).

On June 17, the House Appropriations Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs approved, by voice vote, its version of the FY2015 State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs spending bill (as-yet-unnumbered).

On June 18, the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government approved, by voice vote, the FY2015 Financial Services and General Government spending bill (as-yet-unnumbered).

On June 19, the Senate Appropriations Committee approved, by voice vote, the FY2015 Legislative Branch spending bill (as-yet-unnumbered).

Hearings:

Employment- On June 18, the Joint Economic Committee held a hearing, “Empowerment in the Workplace.”
