Several women were reelected or newly elected to leadership positions within the 112th Congress. In the House, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was elected Democratic Leader; Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) will continue to serve as vice-chair of the Republican Conference.
On the Senate side, Sens. Patty Murray and Debbie Stabenow will serve as conference secretary and vice chair of the Democratic Policy Committee, respectively. Sen. Barbara Boxer is likely to continue serving as chief deputy whip.
The Congressional Caucus for Women’s Issues announced its new leadership for the 112th Congress. Reps. Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) and Gwen Moore (D-WI) will serve as the Women’s Caucus co-chairs; Reps. Jaime Herrera Beutler (R-WA) and Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) will serve as vice chairs.
The Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus will be chaired by Rep. Judy Chu (D-CA).
Del. Donna Christensen (D-VI) will serve as first vice chair of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), while Rep. Yvette Clarke (D-NY) will serve as the CBC secretary.
