On September 22, the Senate approved, by unanimous consent, H.R. 6893, the Fostering Connections to Success and Increasing Adoptions Act of 2008, a bill to renew and expand a national program of incentives for families to adopt children. The House passed the bill on September 17 (see The Source, 9/19/08). The president is expected to sign the bill into law. The current authorization (P.L. 105-89) expires on September 30.
The same day, the Senate passed, by unanimous consent, S.Res.675, a resolution supporting the goals of National Adoption Day and National Adoption Month. The House passed H. Res. 1432, an identical resolution, on September 18 (see The Source, 9/19/08).
