On December 8, the House passed, by voice vote, the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (S. 3817), which reauthorizes several bills: the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act (P.L. 98-457), the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (P.L. 93-247), the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment and Adoption Reform Act (P.L. 95-266), and the Abandoned Infants Assistance Act (P.L. 100-505). During consideration of the bill, the House made several technical changes to the underlying bill, thus sending it back to the Senate for its final approval. The Senate cleared the measure by unanimous consent on December 10. The Senate previously passed the measure on December 3 (see The Source, 12/3/10). The president is expected to sign the measure into law.
