House Committee Advances Bill to Increase Funds to Fight Sex Trafficking

On June 28, the House Judiciary Committee approved, by voice vote, H.R. 2480, the Empowering Law Enforcement to Fight Sex Trafficking Demand Act, sponsored by Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-MO).

The bill would expand the usage of Byrne Justice Assistance Grants to include efforts to “combat human trafficking, including programs to reduce the demand for trafficked persons.”
