On September 8, the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee approved, by voice vote, a bill (H.R. 2844), sponsored by Rep. John Mica (R-FL), to authorize the conveyance of a parcel of federal land near the national mall to National Women’s History Museum, Inc. for the purpose of establishing the National Women’s History Museum. The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee approved its version of the legislation (S. 680) on April 14 (see The Source, 4/15/11).
Unlike the bill approved in the Senate, H.R. 2844 also contains provisions regarding the transfer of a federal property from the Federal Trade Commission to the National Gallery of Art.
