House Passes Newborn Screening Bill

On June 24, the House approved, by voice vote, the Newborn Screening Saves Lives Reauthorization Act (H.R. 1281). The House Energy and Commerce Committee passed the bill on April 3 (see The Source, 4/4/14).

The bill, sponsored by Rep. Lucille Roybal-Allard (D-CA), would reauthorize funding for the improved screening of, and counseling and follow-up treatment for, heritable disorders in newborns and children.
