Legislative Branch Spending Bill Advances, Contains Provision to End Sexual Harassment

On May 1, the House approved, 402-1, the FY2015 Legislative Branch spending bill (H.R. 4487). The House Appropriations Committee approved the bill on April 17.

The bill would allocate $3.326 billion in discretionary funds in FY2015 for House of Representatives operations, the Capitol Police, the Library of Congress, and the Capitol Visitors Center, among other facilities. This amount is equal to that provided in FY2014 and is $122.515 million below President Obama’s FY2015 request.

During the consideration of the measure, the House approved, by voice vote, an amendment by Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA) to allocate $500,000 for sexual harassment training for all House offices.
