On January 27, the House passed, 250-177, the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act (P.L. 111-2), after defeating, 176-250, a motion by Rep. Howard “Buck” McKeon (R-CA) to recommit the bill to the Education and Labor Committee for a hearing. The Senate cleared the legislation on January 22 (see The Source, 1/23/09). President Obama signed the bill into law on January 29.
