Senate Committee Approves Child Protection Bill

On September 7, the Senate Judiciary Committee approved, by voice vote, S. 705, the Child Protection Improvements Act, as amended. The House approved its version of the bill, H.R. 695, on May 22 (see The Source, 5/26/17).

Sponsored by Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT), the measure would allow organizations that care for children, the elderly, or individuals with disabilities to access a national criminal background check for their employees, volunteers, and coaches.
