On April 13, the Senate approved, by unanimous consent, S. Res. 388, a resolution supporting International Women’s Day, as amended. The Senate Foreign Relations Committee approved the resolution on March 10 (see The Source, 3/11/16).
Sponsored by Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), the measure recognizes that “the empowerment of women is inextricably linked to the potential of a country to generate economic growth, sustainable democracy, and inclusive security.”
